What makes Rapé Samauma distinct

It is easy to understand someone when they think as we do, do what we expected and respond as we would have responded.

The difficulty arises when another person sees the same situation from a completely different place.

For us, Samauma opens that territory: trying to understand before drawing a conclusion, and recognizing that another person may be living something very different from what we see from outside.

What changes if I try, for a moment, to see from the other person’s place? Am I listening or only preparing my answer? How much of my judgment comes from expecting someone else to live as I would?

How we understand it

At Ancestrina, we associate Samauma with empathy and compassion.

For us, empathy means recognizing an experience different from our own and making enough room to try to understand it without abandoning our own boundaries.

Compassion adds another dimension: approaching what someone is living through without immediately turning their difficulty into judgment.

We can direct that same gaze toward ourselves. Sometimes we can understand everyone’s story but our own. We may treat another person’s mistake gently and punish ourselves for years for one of our own.

In our energetic reading, we associate Samauma with the second and fourth chakras. For us, the second represents the emotional territory, our capacity to feel and relate to what we experience. The fourth represents the heart, bonds, compassion and our capacity to give and receive love.

Samauma brings those territories together: feeling and meeting what we feel, within ourselves and others, with a less rigid gaze.

For us, empathy means approaching another person’s experience while remaining in our own place.
