Rapé Cacto

Price range: $90,000 through $130,000

Rapé Cacto is prepared by hand with rustic Amazonian tobacco and a cactus of the Cereus genus.

At Ancestrina, we associate it with grief, loss and the moments of transformation that arise when something important ends or changes form.

Cacto invites us to stay close to what we feel, recognize what has gone and make room for a relationship with the life that continues after a loss.

What makes Rapé Cacto distinct

Loss does not happen only when someone dies.

There is also grief when a relationship ends, a stage of our life changes, we leave a project behind, lose a possibility or realize that something will never be the same again.

Every loss opens a space. That space may hold sadness, anger, nostalgia, love, relief, fear or many things at once.

For us, Cacto speaks of moving through that territory without rushing it.

What am I really losing? What remains alive in me from what ended? What needs to be felt before it can take a new form?

How we understand it

At Ancestrina, we associate Cacto with grief as a process of transformation.

Some things end without disappearing entirely from us. A person can leave and remain part of our story. A relationship can end and leave lessons, memories and parts of ourselves that remain. A stage can close while something new slowly begins to take form.

In our energetic reading, we associate Cacto with the second and fourth chakras, territories we relate to emotional movement, bonds, love and our capacity to open ourselves to life again.

Cacto invites us to honor what was, allow the loss a place and discover what begins to change in us when we stop demanding that everything return to the way it was.

Origin and Production

Ancestrina’s rapés are made directly by elders of the Marubo, Munduruku, and Yanomami tribes in Brazil, with whom we maintain a direct relationship.

These preparations are made for Ancestrina based on each community’s traditional knowledge. When a variety contains tobacco, the tobacco used is rustic Amazonian tobacco grown by the communities themselves.

Each rapé retains its ingredients, but it does not follow an industrial formula with identical proportions. The quantities may vary from one batch to another depending on the knowledge and intuition of the Mayor who prepares it.
