Rapé Jatoba

Price range: $90,000 through $130,000

Rapé Jatoba is prepared by hand with rustic Amazonian tobacco and Jatoba.

At Ancestrina, we associate it with mental strength: the possibility of observing our thoughts without becoming completely identified with them.

Jatoba invites us to regain perspective amid the noise of the mind and remember that we can listen to our thoughts without obeying every one of them.

What makes Rapé Jatoba distinct

The mind speaks constantly. It remembers, anticipates, interprets, argues and imagines situations that do not yet exist.

The difficulty arises when every thought immediately becomes our reality.

For us, Jatoba opens a space between thinking something and becoming what we think: a place from which we can observe.

What thought is taking up all my space? Am I seeing what is happening or only what my mind says about it? What changes when I can listen to a thought without responding immediately?

How we understand it

At Ancestrina, we associate Jatoba with the figure of the observer.

Observing does not mean emptying the mind. It means recognizing that a thought appears within us, but is not necessarily an order, an absolute truth or all that we are.

There is a difference between thinking, “I can’t,” and observing, “The thought that I can’t is appearing in me.”

That small space changes our relationship with the experience.

In our energetic reading, we associate Jatoba with the sixth chakra, a territory we relate to perception, perspective and the capacity to look beyond an immediate reaction.

That is what we mean by mental strength: relating to the mind without automatically handing it the direction.

The mind can be an extraordinary tool. Jatoba invites us to remember that the tool does not have to become the one in charge.

Origin and Production

Ancestrina’s rapés are made directly by elders of the Marubo, Munduruku, and Yanomami tribes in Brazil, with whom we maintain a direct relationship.

These preparations are made for Ancestrina based on each community’s traditional knowledge. When a variety contains tobacco, the tobacco used is rustic Amazonian tobacco grown by the communities themselves.

Each rapé retains its ingredients, but it does not follow an industrial formula with identical proportions. The quantities may vary from one batch to another depending on the knowledge and intuition of the Mayor who prepares it.
