What makes Rapé Mentolado distinct

We can be doing one thing while our attention is in five different places: thinking of what is missing, what comes next, another conversation, the phone or something we should have done yesterday.

For us, Mentolado speaks of gathering our attention, returning here and recovering a concrete direction when we are scattered.

How we understand it

At Ancestrina, we associate Mentolado with focus and presence: being present enough to know what we are doing and why we are doing it.

When our attention becomes fragmented, we may spend the whole day busy without really moving forward on what matters.

Mentolado invites us to return to one thing: a task, a conversation, a decision or the moment before us.

We also relate it to procrastination, especially when distraction becomes a way of repeatedly moving away from what we know we want to attend to.

In our energetic reading, we associate Mentolado with the first chakra, a territory we relate to grounding, the earth, presence and the ability to inhabit our place more firmly.

Origin and Production

Ancestrina’s rapés are made directly by elders of the Marubo, Munduruku, and Yanomami tribes in Brazil, with whom we maintain a direct relationship.

These preparations are made for Ancestrina based on each community’s traditional knowledge. When a variety contains tobacco, the tobacco used is rustic Amazonian tobacco grown by the communities themselves.

Each rapé retains its ingredients, but it does not follow an industrial formula with identical proportions. The quantities may vary from one batch to another depending on the knowledge and intuition of the Mayor who prepares it.
