The seven chakras: meaning and a symbolic reading

A map for exploring experience

The seven chakras offer a language for exploring different dimensions of experience: security, emotions, will, relationships, expression, perception and meaning. At Ancestrina, we use them as a symbolic map for reflection and to explain some correspondences in our catalogue.

Where the language of chakras comes from

Representations of subtle centres along the body belong to yoga traditions from India. The Smithsonian’s historical study of yogic identities describes the visualisation of wheels or lotuses along the body’s central axis in Tantric yoga. This guide presents a reading of seven centres. Their associations can guide questions about our lives without becoming a diagnosis.

What are the seven chakras?

  1. Muladhara, root: represented at the base of the spine. In our reading, it concerns grounding and security. What helps me feel that I have a place?
  2. Svadhisthana, sacral: symbolically located in the lower abdomen. We relate it to emotions, desire and movement. What do I feel, and what do I struggle to allow myself to feel?
  3. Manipura, solar plexus: we associate it with will, self-esteem and the capacity to act. What decision do I need to sustain?
  4. Anahata, heart: represents relationships and sensitivity. How can I approach others while staying in contact with myself?
  5. Vishuddha, throat: we relate it to expression and listening. What do I need to say clearly?
  6. Ajna, brow: represents perception and discernment. What am I seeing, and what am I taking for granted?
  7. Sahasrara, crown: we associate it with meaning and connection to something larger. What guides the way I live?

How to approach this map

Start with a question that relates to something you are experiencing. Write it down, observe a concrete situation and identify an action within your reach. You do not need to work through the seven centres in order or interpret every difficulty as an energetic blockage. The value of this language lies in the questions it opens and what you do with them.

The chakras at Ancestrina

Our relationship between chakras and Rapés expresses Ancestrina’s energetic reading. It does not establish a medical equivalence or mean that a preparation automatically produces a transformation. To explore this selection, the 7 Chakras Kit with Kuripe product page lists the seven selected Rapés, the contents of each jar and the included applicator.
