Rapé Veia de Paje

Price range: $100,000 through $160,000

Rapé Veia de Paje is a preparation made by hand with rustic Amazonian tobacco.

At Ancestrina, we associate it with the sacred masculine: the possibility of bringing strength and sensitivity together, direction and openness, firmness and the capacity to feel.

Veia de Paje invites us to examine our relationship with masculinity and recognize what it means to inhabit strength without turning it into hardness.

What makes Rapé Veia de Paje distinct

For a long time, we have been taught that being strong means enduring: showing no fear, never doubting, needing nothing, not crying or asking for help.

Yet there is another way to understand strength: holding a decision while recognizing what we feel, setting a boundary without hardening, and moving forward without disconnecting from ourselves.

For us, Veia de Paje speaks of that territory.

What does being strong mean to me? Where do I confuse firmness with hardness? What part of my sensitivity have I learned to hide in order to feel safe?

How we understand it

At Ancestrina, we associate Veia de Paje with the sacred masculine.

In our reading, the sacred masculine is a symbolic language available to anyone. It speaks of direction, structure, the capacity to act, firmness and our relationship with our own strength.

But strength disconnected from sensitivity can become rigidity. And sensitivity without direction can lose its capacity to act.

For us, Veia de Paje occupies the territory where those qualities meet: strength and sensitivity, action and listening, direction and openness, the capacity to hold and the capacity to receive.

It can also invite us to observe what we have learned about masculinity from our fathers, grandparents, culture and the authority figures we have known. Some of those forms may still make sense; others may need to change.

In our energetic reading, we associate Veia de Paje with the third and fourth chakras. The third represents will, direction, the capacity to act and our relationship with our own power. The fourth represents bonds, sensitivity, compassion and the capacity to remain open.

Together they express the identity we recognize in this Rapé: a strength that does not need to stop feeling.

While Osha concerns personal power and one’s own voice, and Inga boundaries and standing up for one’s place, Veia de Paje focuses on how we inhabit strength and sensitivity within the same identity.

Origin and Production

Ancestrina’s rapés are made directly by elders of the Marubo, Munduruku, and Yanomami tribes in Brazil, with whom we maintain a direct relationship.

These preparations are made for Ancestrina based on each community’s traditional knowledge. When a variety contains tobacco, the tobacco used is rustic Amazonian tobacco grown by the communities themselves.

Each rapé retains its ingredients, but it does not follow an industrial formula with identical proportions. The quantities may vary from one batch to another depending on the knowledge and intuition of the Mayor who prepares it.
