Rapé Pimienta Longa

Price range: $90,000 through $130,000

Rapé Pimienta Longa is prepared by hand with rustic Amazonian tobacco and Pimienta Longa.

At Ancestrina, we associate it with emotional digestion: experiences that have already happened but that we are still trying to process, control or hold on to.

Pimienta Longa invites us to observe what we continue to carry and what might begin to change if we loosen our grip.

What makes Rapé Pimienta Longa distinct

Not everything we live through becomes part of us immediately.

There are experiences we understand in our minds that still occupy space within us: conversations we replay, situations we wish we could change even though they have already happened, and stories we continue to hold because we do not know how to let them go.

At Ancestrina, we use the image of emotional digestion to speak of this process.

What experience am I still trying to control? What have I not yet found a way to process? What am I holding on to even though part of me wants to let it go?

Composition

  • Base: Rustic Amazonian tobacco
  • Ingredient accompanying the tobacco: Pimienta Longa
  • Origin: Brazil

How we understand it

For us, Pimienta Longa speaks of processing, transforming and letting go.

There is a difference between abandoning something and allowing an experience to finish its course within us.

Sometimes we hold on because we believe letting go means approving what happened, forgetting it or deciding it no longer matters. It does not necessarily mean any of those things.

Letting go can also mean giving less of our energy to what we can no longer change.

In our energetic reading, we associate Pimienta Longa with the third chakra, a territory we relate to the will, control and how we position ourselves in relation to what we live through.

Pimienta Longa invites us to observe how much energy we put into controlling what has already happened, and how much might become available again as we begin to integrate it.

Origin and Production

Ancestrina’s rapés are made directly by elders of the Marubo, Munduruku, and Yanomami tribes in Brazil, with whom we maintain a direct relationship.

These preparations are made for Ancestrina based on each community’s traditional knowledge. When a variety contains tobacco, the tobacco used is rustic Amazonian tobacco grown by the communities themselves.

Each rapé retains its ingredients, but it does not follow an industrial formula with identical proportions. The quantities may vary from one batch to another depending on the knowledge and intuition of the Mayor who prepares it.
