Rapé Huasca

Price range: $100,000 through $160,000

Rapé Huasca is prepared by hand with rustic Amazonian tobacco and scrapings from the pot the Elders use to prepare yagé.

At Ancestrina, we associate it with expressing what we carry within us that has not yet found a way out: an emotion, a truth, an idea, an image or a creation.

Huasca invites us to open a path between what we feel and our ability to give it a voice.

What makes Rapé Huasca distinct

There are things we feel long before we can say them. Something is there. We recognize it. Perhaps we even know it needs to come out. Yet we have not found the words, gesture or form.

For us, Huasca speaks of that territory: expressing the unexpressed.

Sometimes that expression comes through speaking. At other times through writing, singing, painting, creating or simply allowing what was held within to finally take a form.

What am I carrying within that I have not yet been able to express? What am I trying to say without finding a way? What form might what I feel take?

How we understand it

At Ancestrina, we associate Huasca with the bridge between feeling and expression.

Some experiences remain within us because we have not yet found a language for them. Language does not mean only words. It may be a conversation, song, drawing, movement, idea that finally takes form or a creation.

In our energetic reading, we associate Huasca with the fourth and fifth chakras.

For us, the fourth is the territory of the heart: what we feel, what touches us and what we connect with. The fifth represents expression: the possibility of giving our experience a voice and form.

For us, Huasca sits between those two territories: feeling something and being able to express it.

That is why creativity also holds an important place in our reading of this Rapé. Creating can allow what does not yet fit into an explanation to find another way to exist.

Origin and Production

Ancestrina’s rapés are made directly by elders of the Marubo, Munduruku, and Yanomami tribes in Brazil, with whom we maintain a direct relationship.

These preparations are made for Ancestrina based on each community’s traditional knowledge. When a variety contains tobacco, the tobacco used is rustic Amazonian tobacco grown by the communities themselves.

Each rapé retains its ingredients, but it does not follow an industrial formula with identical proportions. The quantities may vary from one batch to another depending on the knowledge and intuition of the Mayor who prepares it.
